Tire Technician inspects, maintains, repairs, and replaces tires on
various vehicles to ensure safety and optimal performance. They are
responsible for a range of tire-related services, preparing
vehicles for customer delivery or general servicing. What are the
day-to-day responsibilities? Receive and document vehicles brought
in for tire service. Perform thorough inspections of tires for
wear, damage (e.g., punctures, bulges, sidewall cracks), and proper
inflation, ensuring compliance with safety standards. Inspect
wheels and rims for damage or defects. Measure tire tread depth and
recommend replacements as needed. Mount, dismount, balance, and
rotate tires using specialized machinery and hand tools. Repair
punctured tires using industry-approved methods. Adjust tire
pressure to the manufacturer's specifications. Inspect and service
TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System) sensors as required. Perform
minor adjustments related to tire fitment and wheel assembly.
Maintaining a clean and organized work area, properly storing tools
and equipment. Communicate findings and recommendations to service
advisors or customers as needed. Test drive vehicles to ensure
proper tire and wheel operation after service, paying attention to
steering, braking, and general ride quality. What are the
requirements for this job? High school diploma or equivalent. 6-12
months of previous work experience, preferably in an automotive or
tire service environment. Ability to read and comprehend written
instructions and information, including tire specifications and
service manuals. General mechanical aptitude, specifically relating
to vehicle wheels and tires. Must have a valid driver's license and
the ability to drive manual transmission vehicles. Manual
dexterity, good judgment, and the ability to safely operate tire
mounting and balancing machines, hand tools, and power tools
specific to tire service. Ability to lift and move tires of various
